Ann Colley Executive Director of Louis Bacon’s Moore
Charitable Foundation, has become a member of the Audubon Women In
Conservation’s Rachel Carson Awards Council.
The council includes women from a variety of sectors devoted
to conservation. This includes: script writers and film directors, organic
farmers, influential CEOs, lawyers, journalists, philanthropists and program
organisers
The council meets to share information on mainstream and
emerging environmental challenges annually in order to promote environmental
education.
Ann Colley is executive director and vice president of the
Louis Bacon-led Moore Charitable Foundation, The Trinchera & TercioFoundation, and the Orton Foundation; she plays a crucial role in organising
and executing the charity’s environmental projects, with a focus on land and
water habitats.
Her new role will allow her to liaise between Audubon and the
Moore Charitable Foundation, sharing resources and information about developments
in the sector. With her, she brings a wealth of experience and an exemplary
knowledge base which she will share with the council for the common good.
Ms Colley was invited to join The Moore Charitable
Foundation in 1994 by Louis Bacon soon after the charity was initially founded
and has been influential in the organisation’s success.
Her role is to work in close capacity with the board to find
and analyse submissions to the fund, while providing funding to approximately
200 organisations annually.
The Moore Charitable Foundation sponsors conservation and
habitat management projects and gives funds to programs and organisations. By
promoting innovative projects, the organisation provides collaborative support
across a variety of environmental issues.
In addition to her role with the Moore Charitable
Foundation, Colley is the lead advisor to the foundation’s principal, Louis
Bacon, in his land, water and community efforts in the Bahamas and southern
Colorado, Brunswick County, NC and Long Island, NY.
The appointment of Ms Colley to the council is the latest
interaction between the charity and Audubon after Louis Bacon received the
esteemed Audubon Medal in January this year. The Moore Charitable Foundation
also provided Audubon with funds to create a resource centre and provide ways
for people to minimise the impact of energy development on communities and
wildlife.
